This album is the soundtrack to the American movie Boycott that tells this story. It features an eclectic mix of songs both old and new, used during key scenes in the film. There's a mixture of R&B and traditional gospel as well as some old school blues and jazz. Kirk Franklin (Revolution), Nat King Cole (Walkin' My Baby Back Home), Aaron Neville (Ella's Song), BeBe Winans and Stevie Wonder (Jesus, Children of America) , and Dizzy Gillespie (Swing Low, Sweet Cadillac) are all featured. Standouts include Gillespie's joyful and playful jazz and an incredible blues gospel powerhouse duet from Darwin Hobbs and Molly Johnson on Blind Man . Darwin Hobbs and Karen Clark-Sheard join together with a tribute song, 'King', which brings the issues up to date. Beverley Crawford updates the Dylan classic 'Gotta Serve Somebody' , giving it plenty of punch and the tri city singers deliver a traditional 'what a time' which feels as evocative of the era as some of the older music included here. These songs are timely reminders of hard-won victories, proving that love can triumph over injustice. In the words of Dr King, 'We must learn to meet hate with love'.
